Calling all herbalists!
This coming Saturday, February 23rd, we will be harvesting nettles in the Trees for Health Garden in Balboa Park.
Time: 9:00 a.m. until noon (or until we get rid of the nettles)
Bring: Gloves, bags, scissors or clippers
This is a work party. The nettles are ready to harvest, and we commit to the park services staff that we will rid the garden of them. Since we don't want to have the park use Roundup, we pull all the nettles by hand at this time of year.
Please come lend a hand and take away as much as you need for your medicine making purposes. We have quite a crop growing. We do ask that you spend a little time pulling more nettles after your bags are full.
Balboa Drive parallels Sixth between Upas and Laurel. The easiest way to get there is take Sixth to Upas and turn onto Balboa Drive. It's a one-way street. Follow Balboa Drive until just before Quince. Look for the Camp Fire Camp--we're just after that. Parking is easily available. You can also check out this Google map for driving directions.
Thank you and hope to see you on Saturday!
